▲ Current month through today. YTD from Jan 22, 2026 entry.
Safe Growth held nearly flat today, easing 0.2% to $1,744 a unit, measured open to open against Thursday morning's update since markets were closed Friday for Independence Day. The book is still up 0.4% for July and sits about 9.2% under our January 22 entry. After last week's soft-jobs rally lifted the riskier corners of the market, today was a quiet, post-holiday risk-off reset, and a strong bid in gold did most of the work keeping the portfolio steady.
NUGT led, up 4.0% as gold pushed higher on the firmer rate-cut outlook and a softer dollar. ETN added 0.5%, while PPA and INDA were essentially flat. The rest of the book gave a little back: NVDA slipped 2.1% and MSTR fell 4.5% as bitcoin cooled off its late-week surge, with EWW off 1.0%, XLE down 0.5%, and URA and TMF barely lower. The split is the whole story, with our gold ballast offsetting the pullback in tech.
No trades. ETN and PPA anchor the infrastructure core, XLE and URA carry the energy and commodity hedge, NUGT is our gold ballast, and NVDA keeps us tied to the AI build-out. Days like this are exactly why the book is spread across gold, energy, defense and emerging markets, so a giveback in one sleeve is cushioned by strength in another. Holding the full slate.
