▲ Current month through today. YTD from Jan 22, 2026 entry.
Safe Growth fell 2.4% to $1,768 a unit as a sharp selloff in South Korea's KOSPI rippled across global markets and set a risk-off tone for the whole session. June MTD now sits 4.7% lower and the book is down 7.9% since our January 22 entry. A broad, low-conviction pullback like this is exactly the kind of session a diversified defensive book is built to weather.
The damage was widest in the growth and rate-sensitive corner. NUGT fell 6.8% as gold miners pulled back, ETN gave up 4.6% after its recent run, and NVDA and MSTR each slid about 2.8%. The defensive ballast did its job, with XLE, URA and PPA finishing essentially flat and TMF barely moving, which kept the unit from a deeper drop on a rough tape.
No trades. A one-day, broad-market risk-off driven by an overseas headline is not a reason to touch a long-term book. We would rather let the energy, uranium and bond sleeves absorb the shock than chase a jittery Asian session. Not worried, staying put.
