High Risk ripped to $1,063, a +1.7% session that flips our May MTD firmly green at +3.95% and pushes since-entry to +4.4%. After three weeks of grinding through a May drawdown, this is the kind of session that pays you back for sitting on hands — and it was driven almost entirely by one name doing something extraordinary.
IONQ at $60.40, +15.1% is the entire story. A one-day move of that magnitude in a quantum name is rarely about quantum itself — it's about the market re-rating an entire thematic basket after a catalyst (a contract, a partnership, a benchmark print). Whatever the trigger, the response tells us institutional money is willing to chase quantum exposure again, which is exactly the asymmetric setup this position was sized for. We don't trim into vertical days like this — that's how you turn a 15-bagger thesis into a 2-bagger trade.
The supporting cast matters too. MRVL at $192.23, +2.9% is now back-to-back green and has clawed back meaningful ground from its May lows — the AI silicon trade is rebuilding from the bottom up. VST (+2.5%) continued its power-demand grind, and OKLO (+0.9%) ticked along with it. The thematic linkage — compute demand, power generation, advanced nuclear — is doing exactly what we underwrote it to do: move together when the AI complex is risk-on.
The blemish is RKLB at $126.54, -5.8%. That's a real pullback, but in context: RKLB has been one of the portfolio's stronger contributors and high-beta names give back chunks on rotation days when capital flows toward whatever just went vertical (in this case, IONQ). BMNR (-0.3%) and MSTR (-0.5%) were essentially noise — the crypto-adjacent names took the day off while the AI/quantum bid did the work. PLTR (+0.2%) and UEC (+0.1%) were flat, which is fine — they didn't need to contribute today.
What to watch: whether IONQ holds the bulk of today's move tomorrow — quantum names that give back less than a third of a +15% pop typically see continuation; ones that retrace more than half were just short squeezes. We also want to see MRVL extend a third day to confirm the AI-chip recovery is real. Our stance: hold every position, no trims. Days like today are why this portfolio exists and why we take the May drawdowns without flinching. Nothing in this note is investment advice.
