📊 Market Narrative — Wednesday, May 20, 2026

The High Risk portfolio surged +2.3% today, pushing our unit value to $1,017.68 and keeping May MTD at -0.5% as the portfolio recovers from mid-month lows. This was a broad-based rally with seven of nine positions finishing green, led by our semiconductor and energy infrastructure names as the market positioned aggressively ahead of tonight's marquee AI earnings report.

The session's dominant theme was the AI infrastructure trade roaring back to life. Our top performer, MRVL, exploded +7.3% to $189.20 on heavy volume as traders positioned for a strong read-through from tonight's flagship AI semiconductor earnings. Marvell's custom silicon and datacenter networking exposure makes it a pure-play beneficiary if the guidance confirms that hyperscaler AI capex remains robust. The Blackstone-Google joint venture announcement for new TPU cloud infrastructure added fuel, signaling that datacenter buildout is accelerating, not plateauing. Meanwhile, VST ripped +4.4% to $140.62, continuing its role as the power infrastructure proxy for AI data centers that simply cannot be built without massive electricity commitments.

The nuclear and uranium complex caught a tailwind from both the AI power narrative and elevated geopolitical risk. OKLO gained +3.9% to $58.06 as small modular reactor sentiment strengthened, while UEC added +1.8% to $12.13 and BMNR climbed +1.4% to $18.89 on the uranium fuel side. The Strait of Hormuz blockade risk continues to pressure traditional energy supply chains, making domestic nuclear an increasingly attractive hedge for long-term power planners. Treasury yields remain elevated with the 30-year flirting near 5.19%—the highest since 2007—but our growth-tilted portfolio absorbed that pressure well today.

🔑 Key Watch for the Rest of Today: All eyes are on the after-hours AI semiconductor earnings report. The street wants guidance confirmation that infrastructure spending is still expanding. A strong print with robust forward commentary could send MRVL another +3-5% tomorrow and lift the entire AI complex. A cautious guide, however, could trigger a -5% to -7% reversal in high-beta semis. Also monitor crude oil prices overnight—any escalation in Middle East tensions could boost our nuclear names further while pressuring rate-sensitive growth positions.

Our Stance: Hold all positions. May has been a rough month overall but today's action confirms the portfolio's core themes—AI infrastructure, nuclear power, and high-conviction growth—remain firmly in favor. We're not chasing here, but we're not trimming into strength either. The earnings catalyst tonight will dictate whether we extend or consolidate. Stay nimble, stay positioned.
