📊 Market Narrative — Friday, May 15, 2026

The High Risk portfolio gained +1.4% today, pushing our unit value to $1,070 and extending May MTD to a strong +4.6%. The session featured sharp divergence — our crypto holdings and space/quantum names delivered, while our AI semiconductor position took an institutional rotation hit. The macro backdrop was squarely driven by a Treasury yield spike (10-year to 4.54%) tied to escalating Middle East conflict pushing Brent crude above $108. Markets are now pricing in potential Fed rate hikes by year-end — a new headwind for high-multiple growth names that showed up in our chip exposure today.

The biggest drag was MRVL, down -6.4% to $173.82 after Cisco's blowout earnings triggered an aggressive sector rotation — fund managers took profits in custom-silicon plays to fund networking and infrastructure names. This is mechanical rebalancing, not a thesis break. MRVL's AI ASIC pipeline for hyperscalers is intact, and it's still up +117.9% since our January 22 entry. If you're uncomfortable with that kind of volatility on a single name, today was a reminder of why we size carefully. VST also slipped -1.9% to $139.78 — despite Brent crude at $108 supporting AI datacenter power demand broadly, the yield surge weighed on all rate-sensitive infrastructure plays.

The winning side of today's book was led by crypto and our innovation cluster. MSTR surged +6.2% to $186.99 as Bitcoin cleared the $80K level that had capped the crypto complex all week. BMNR jumped +5.2% to $22.01 — the ETH treasury play caught the broader crypto bid as altcoins followed Bitcoin's breakout. RKLB ripped +4.7% to $128.17 on continued momentum in the commercial space sector; the Rocket Lab story is about launch cadence and backlog building, and today's move extends a multi-week run now showing +43.8% since entry. IONQ gained +4.2% to $57.49 as quantum computing names benefited from renewed investor interest — Microsoft's quantum roadmap updates this week added fuel.

PLTR added +2.5% to $133.75 as the enterprise software rotation from semiconductors into AI platform plays continued. PLTR's government AI contract flow remains strong, and the company is uniquely positioned at the intersection of defense AI and commercial analytics. OKLO bounced +2.3% to $67.23 — the nuclear SMR thesis is firming up as high oil prices reinforce the long-term energy diversification argument. UEC was flat at -0.8% to $14.82, essentially unchanged while the uranium supply deficit narrative continues to build in the background.

Looking Ahead: Bitcoin's clean $80K breakout is the setup story for next week — if BTC holds this level over the weekend, MSTR and BMNR could see significant follow-through Monday. The U.S. cleared H200 chip sales to 10 Chinese firms overnight — watch for broader export-restriction thaw signals that could reverse today's chip-sector rotation sharply. MRVL specifically could snap back hard if AI capex data from hyperscalers supports continued custom-silicon demand. Also worth noting: with names like RKLB up +43.8% and MRVL up +117.9% since entry, we're evaluating potential profit-taking on our strongest performers next week. If we decide to move, you'll be the first to know — stay alert.

Our Stance: Hold all positions heading into the weekend. Today's MRVL hit is rotation-driven noise, not fundamental damage. The crypto complex is breaking out, space and quantum are performing, and our portfolio's broad-based gains give us room to be patient. +4.6% May MTD and the Dow flirting with 50,000 — we're in a good spot.
